The Department of Computer Science manages all the courses that are related to the Computer Science (Computer science is the study of the theory, experimentation and engineering that form the basis for the design and use of computers.) such as B.Sc Computer Science, Bachelor of Computer Application ( BCA), Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA) , Diploma in Computer Application (DCA) , Diploma in Data entry Techniques and Office Automation (DDTOA), Certificate Course In Library S and Information Science(CCLIC), M.Sc. Computer Science etc… This department is currently functioning in the Main Campus of College of Applied Science, Mavelikkara.

1. B.Sc COMPUTER SCIENCE

BSc Computer Science is a 3 year undergraduate program which deals with subjects and topics related to computer application and services.Technological implementation of computer systems is the main agenda of the program.The program ranges widely from creating quality professionals and research fellows who are working in every sector of the world today. It comprises of the subjects like Database, Networking, Data structure, Data analytics, Iot , Artificial Intelligence , core programming languages like ‘C’ and ‘java’.

A pass in Higher Secondary or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the University of Kerala with Mathematics as one of the optional subjects.

2. BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application)

Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA) is an undergraduate degree course in computer applications. With the rapid growth of IT industry in India, the demand of computer professional is increasing day by day. This increasing growth of IT industry has created a lot of opportunities for the computer graduates.

Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA) is one of the popular courses among the students who want to make their career in the IT (Information Technology) field. The duration of the course is 3 years and divided into 6 semesters. It comprises of the subjects like database, networking, data structure, data analytics, Iot ,artificial Intelligence ,core programming languages like ‘C’ and ‘java’. 3. M.Sc COMPUTER SCIENCE

M.Sc. Computer Science is a 2-year program catering to the needs of people interested in the field of computers. Candidates contemplating the course must have passed a second class honors or above in the domain of Computer Science, Mathematics ,Electronics, Physics , Statistics or a Science Graduates with Computer Science/Computer Application as main/subsidiary/core subjects can join the course. They must have a background of other numerate or computing related fields.

Candidates pursuing this course are provided with an opportunity to develop core competence in the field of computer science and encourages them to make a mark in the much sought after IT industry. Admission to M.Sc Computer Science is based on merit . University of Kerala (50%seats) and IHRD (50% seats) provides admission to the total seats.

4. PGDCA (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application)

The Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application is a one year full time certificate course provided by the IHRD. 5. DCA (Diploma in Computer Application)

Diploma in Computer Application (DCA), is six months certificate course provided by IHRD. The scheme of study and syllabus has been updated incorporating advanced topics. The course is targeted to the employment opportunities in public and private sector and for self employment.

6.Diploma in Data Entry Techniques and Office Automation(DDTOA)

Two semesters Diploma Course in Data entry Techniques & Office Automation.The scheme of study and syllabi have been updated incorporating advanced topics. This course is targeted to the employment opportunity in the Private sector and for self-employment, as a data-entry/DTP operator.

SSLC Pass/equivalent

I semester : Computer Fundamentals & Networking, Data Entry Techniques & Word Processing, Functional English, Lab Practice – 1 (Windows, Data Entry, Internet), Lab Practice – 2 (Office Automation Packages) II semester : Web Technology & Android Applications, Financial Accounting with Tally, Desktop Publishing & Graphics, Lab Practice – 3 (Linux, Internet, Tally) Lab Practice – 4 (DTP, Graphics, Libre Office), Data Entry Speed Test.

7.Certificate Course in Library & Information Science (CCLIC).
