Red Ribbon Club
Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a voluntary on-campus intervention implemented in MSSW aimed at creating awareness about the high risk perception and preventing HIV as well as promoting voluntary blood donation among the students. The RRC conducts these activities with the support of the State Department of Higher Education .
Objectives:
- To reduce new HIV infection among youth by raising their risk perception through awareness of Sex, Sexuality and HIV & AIDS
- To induce among youth the spirit to help and support People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) thereby reducing stigma and discrimination against them.
- To motivate youth and build their capacity as peer educators and change agents by developing their skills of leadership, negotiation, and team building
- To promote Voluntary non-remunerated Blood Donation among youth

Activities
World AIDS day awareness programme
Red Ribbon Club of the college organised world AIDS day awareness programme on 1st December 2021.The inauguration of Red Ribbon Club was officially done on the same day at the college. The world AIDS day awareness programme was scheduled at 10am with the prayer song by Red Ribbon Club Volunteers. The welcome speech was delivered by Mrs. Varsha Chandran Assistant Professor in Commerce. The presidential address was given by Sri. Satheesh Varghese, Sr. Lecturer in Electronics. The inauguration of the club was done by Sri. Vinod Kumar H, Health inspector of Mavelikara. He delivered an enlightening seminar on the topic of HIV and AIDS. He also shared the concept of Red Ribbon Club and its objectives. The queries were answered by the speaker. Felicitation was given by Sri. Pradeep G, who shared various objectives of Red Ribbon Club and AIDS day. He was followed by Sri. Kiran Dev, Assistant Professor in Commerce, who shared thoughts about AIDS day.
Vote of Thanks was delivered by Master Gokul. M. Kurup, RRC Volunteer. The inaugural session and awareness programme was officially concluded with National Anthem.
National Youth Day Programme
National Youth Day is celebrated on 12th January to highlight the youth who are the future of our country and to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, who always motivated the youth of our country and spoke about the right use of youth in the development of country.
Red Ribbon Club Functioning at College of Applied Science, Mavelikara celebrated National Youth Day on 12th January. The Programme was scheduled at 10am and the event was started with the prayer song led by RRC volunteers. Sri. Satheesh Varghese, Sr Lecturer in Electronics welcomed the gathering. Smt. Laila Jasmin, Principal, college of Applied Science, Mavelikara presided the function and delivered presidential address. Principal shared the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda and responsibilities of Youth in our Country. Chief Guest of the programme was Dr. Mariyamma Mathew, Principal, Peet Memorial Training College, Mavelikara. She delivered the inaugural address and shared the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda on education. She insisted on the need of innovative youth for our nation. Felicitations of the programme were delivered by Sri. Rejimon V. R, lecturer in computer science, who shared various objectives of Red Ribbon Club and the need of youths potential. He was followed by Sri. Ajeesh R, senior lecturer in Electronics, he demanded the importance of reading habit among students. Pradeep G, Assistant professor in Commerce had also delivered the felicitation. He asked the students to follow their own right path.Programme was concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Meriya Cheriyan, Assistant Professor in English. The programme was officially concluded with a National Anthem by RRC volunteers.
